ATTORNEY
Navid Dayzad practices immigration law in the sub-specialties of employment-based immigration, family-based immigration and deportation defense. He has published an article in a book for immigration attorneys, Immigration Practice Pointers: Tips for Handling Complex Cases. Mr. Dayzad was elected to a position in the American Immigration Lawyer's Association, where he led a national committee of immigration attorneys and now continues as a panel member. At the request of the Los Angeles Mayor's Office, Mr. Dayzad also served on the Mayor's Advisory Board to advocate for immigrant rights in Los Angeles.
For three years, Mr. Dayzad has been selected as a "Rising Star" immigration attorney—among the top 2% percent of the outstanding, emerging lawyers in Southern California (View most recent award). This honor and a news article about Mr. Dayzad was published in Los Angeles magazine and Law & Politics' Super Lawyers magazine (View article).
Mr. Dayzad has spoken as an expert for the American Immigration Lawyers Association's national conference (View Article), Immigration Equality, Out 4 Immigration, and Southern California Social Club. He has also presented seminars on such topics as Labor Certifications, Employment Verifications and Travel Issues. The latter was featured in Silicon Valley's premiere newspaper, The San Jose Mercury News (View article).
Upon nomination, Mr. Dayzad became a member of the prestigious International Network of Boutique Law Firms in which he is the designated as the sole immigration attorney for Los Angeles. Mr. Dayzad has also been recognized in Montclair's distinguished Who's Who.
Prior to immersing himself in immigration law in January, 2001, Mr. Dayzad practiced employment law at the international firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, where he litigated and counseled employment law cases. He is admitted to practice law in California, including its four United States District Courts and the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Education and Academic Honors
Mr. Dayzad earned his law degree in 1999 from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall)—ranked among the nation's top 10 law schools. During law school, Mr. Dayzad served as the Associate Editor for the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law. Among his honors, he won First Place in a national legal writing competition; earned the American Jurisprudence Award; and received the Best Brief Award in a Moot Court Competition. Mr. Dayzad graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1996, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Volunteer Activities and Language Skills
Mr. Dayzad has volunteered for the American Immigration Law Foundation, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, Immigration Equality, AIDS Legal Referral Panel, Community Boards, and a Los Angeles community center. Mr. Dayzad speaks English, Farsi and Spanish.
