Under the direction of the Biden administration, USCIS put out a new mission statement. USCIS used suggestions from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) to write their new mission statement. It reads, in part: “USCIS upholds America’s promise as a nation of welcome and possibility with fairness, integrity, and respect for all we serve.”
The new mission statement shows that USCIS aims for a fair and accessible U.S. immigration system. It signals a more welcoming and respectful attitude towards immigrants. And, it acknowledges the importance of immigration to America’s success.
