Good news! The prior administration’s travel ban of certain nonimmigrant visa applicants abroad was set to expire on March 31, 2021. The Biden administration opted not to extend the ban. The impacted employees outside of the U.S. may now once apply for a travel visa to enter the United States. Visa applicants who have not yet been interviewed or scheduled for an interview will have their applications prioritized. Applicants who were refused visas due to the restrictions of the proclamation may reapply. They will need to submit a new application, including a new fee.
Most consulates have resumed visa services, but capacity may still be limited. In addition, as travel becomes less restricted, applicants can likely expect busier consulates and longer wait times. If you plan to travel and need a new visa, we recommend getting started on the process as soon as possible!
