United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently changed its mission statement to eliminate a passage that describes the U.S. as a “nation of immigrants.”
This disheartening, symbolic act highlights the current administration’s hard-line approach to immigration and efforts to demonize immigrants. This blatant disregard for our history and values as a nation is disappointing and corrosive. We instead choose to continue to welcome immigrants and help them obtain their American dream.
