The American Immigration Lawyers Association, or AILA, has recently released its 2020 Election Guide. The Guide includes analysis of candidates’ views divided into eight immigration topics. It also features candidate responses to AILA’s Survey, which so far includes responses from six Democratic candidates and President Trump.

AILA is a national association of more than 15,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. It is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization. AILA reports that its guide has already influenced candidates’ views.  Five candidates — Booker, Buttigieg, Ryan, Sanders, and Sestak — previously had no position on the creation of an Article I independent immigration court, but they responded to the survey and now support AILA’s recommendation.

We encourage our readers to take a look at the immigration guide to gain a more in-depth understanding of the issues. You will also find out where the candidates come down on these complex matters. As we head into the 2020 election year, legitimate sources of information will become more and more critical. Feel free to circulate the guide among family and friends. It’s like a Facebook post, without all the pesky “fake news.”
