Staying in the U.S. beyond your authorized expiration, can cause significant complications to future immigration strategies and future visits to the United States.  Visitors in the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA) who are unable to depart before the expiration of their status because of the COVID-19 emergency may be able to extend lawful status for 30 days.  You may be eligible for “Satisfactory Departure” if you are already in the United States and are unable to depart the United States due to emergent circumstances before your authorized period of admission ends. For example, an emergent circumstance could be a cancelled flight, exposure to COVID-19, flu-like symptoms, or other health related issues.   We are happy to help clients with the emergency procedures to obtain a grace period and protect your future U.S. immigration options.
