Relief for Ukrainian Citizens Already in the United States
The U.S. government announced immigration relief for Ukrainians. Because of the ongoing war, Ukrainians are eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the U.S. for 18 months. The U.S. designates a country for TPS based on at least one of three criteria. This criteria includes when the county experiences an ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or extraordinary and temporary conditions. Ukraine is currently enduring both an ongoing armed conflict and extraordinary and temporary conditions. Ukrainian nationals remain unable to safely return to their country.
