Congratulations to all those selected in the first round of selections of the annual H-1B lottery! First-time H-1B applicants must first obtain an H-1B visa number through a lottery system. Once selected, the applicant may submit their H-1B application. The government has notified all of its selected registrants for this first round. Those selected were able to start filing their petitions on April 1, 2022. Fortunately, many of our clients already had their applications prepared and were the first in line to submit their petitions and obtain approval notices.
For those not yet selected, the government is very likely to do a second round of lottery selections in the summer. So, there is still a chance that more registrations will be selected to apply for H-1B status. We will continue to track this and let our clients know when additional selections are made. Stay tuned!
